Results Days August 2021
ARRANGEMENTS FOR RESULTS DAYS AUGUST 2021
Dear Y11 and Y13 students and parents
With the recent announcement that from 19 July 2021 Covid restrictions will be eased we are able to go ahead with examination results days in the traditional way.
Results will be available from the 6th Form Common Room on the following dates:
Owing to construction work on site currently, all students are asked to access the Sixth Form Common Room via the Sixth Form entrance, and to avoid the main entrance by the Main Hall.
9am Tuesday 10 August 2021 for Year 13 students
(plus Year 12 Food students)
9am Thursday 12 August 2021 for Year 11 students
Results will also be sent to students’ school email addresses at 9am. Please make sure you remember your password and if it needs renewing, do this BEFORE results day!
Staff will be available on both results days to offer advice and guidance.
Results will not be given to a 3rd party unless signed authorisation from the student has been provided. This authorisation must name the person allowed to collect the results. Any such provision needs to be arranged with the Exams Office (email@example.com) before 20 July 2021. ID must be provided on the day.
Results will not be given out over the phone.
We hope that you will be delighted with the grades accredited to you, and that the qualifications that you have earned will enable you to progress on to the next step – whether that is further education, higher education or the world of work.
Concerned about your grade?
We are very aware that the awarding of qualifications in 2021 has been a difficult process for all involved, and especially you as the students whose courses were disrupted, and who were unable to sit your final exams in the conventional sense. Below is key advice and guidance on next steps available, should they be relevant to you.
In line with the published Ofqual guidance for summer 2021 grades, students will be able to appeal their grades through their school or college. Information about how to go about appealing a GCSE grade or an A-level grade can be found on the Balcarras website.
If a student strongly believes a centre assessed grade does not reflect the grade they would have achieved by sitting the examination, there is an opportunity to sit these exams this autumn. The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) has confirmed that the dates for these exams will be:
- A-level exams: Monday 4 October to Friday 22 October
- GCSE exams: Monday 1 November to Friday 3 December.
You need to inform the Balcarras Exams Office that you wish to sit a qualification by the following dates:
- A-level – Friday 3 September
- GCSE – Friday 24 September
You will retain the highest grade for the qualification, whether that be the original calculated grade, or the result from the autumn examination.
Please be aware that if you wish to sit any qualification, you will be entered for and have to complete the full suite of examinations relevant to that qualification.
Please contact me if you have any queries. Email is preferable rather than leaving a voicemail. I will be available between 9 and 20 August either in school or checking emails.
Ms Christine Paris
