Science Festival Competition

Balcarras pupils have been taking part in talks and events at this years Science Festival.
On Monday 1st of June, Year 8 pupils Margot Holland and Fliss Hudson took part in this year’s DataFace competition as part of the Cheltenham Science Festival.
For the competition, they researched, designed and created a data visualisation exploring the link between happiness and gender equality around the world. During the day, Margot and Fliss presented their work and findings to pupils from across the South West, as well as teachers and representatives from industry.
They were superb throughout, explaining their project eloquently and confidently. They were able to discuss their findings and give a thoughtful critical evaluation of the data they had used.
There were some amazing projects showcased during the day, so Margot and Fliss should be incredibly proud to have been awarded 2nd place.
A fantastic achievement — well done Margot and Fliss!
