Places of worship visit

Today we took half of year 8 to Birmingham for a ‘places of Worship’ visit. We went to the Guru Granth Sahib Gurdwara and got to experience how Sikh’s worship and have a tour and extremely interesting talk from one of the experts there on the role of the Gurdwara in Sikh life and in the Birmingham community. There are some really interesting projects to feed the homeless with the local Church that students found particularly interesting. Sikhs also provide a free warm meal to all guests so the students very much enjoyed sampling that before we headed off on a walking tour of the area to see how densely populated it is with religious diversity. In the afternoon we visited Birmingham Cathedral and were amazed at how calm and serene it was. The students were fantastic, despite us being slightly later home than planned and we can’t wait to take the other half of the year in a few weeks.
