Mars Rover

On Tuesday Mr Gell took a group of six Year 10 Product Designers to Cleeve School for the first session of this years Mars Rover competition, run by the Cheltenham Education Partnership. The Mars Rover Project is an engineering project where pupils are given a limited budget to design, purchase parts, build and compete their Mars Rover against other schools. This is with the aim of developing engineering skills and fostering an interest in STEM.

The first session involved researching, designing, prototyping and ordering parts, with the focus for the next two sessions being all about building the rovers following the design they have created.

It was a brilliant day which all the students thoroughly enjoyed, and it was a pleasure to see so many of Cheltenham’s budding engineers in one place. I look forward to catching up with the other groups in the new year when we host them here for the two making sessions.
