Literature festival

Year 7 and 8 attend the literature festival
The Library and Literacy team took a selected group of Year 7s and Year 8s to enjoy Jennifer Killick's excellent talk during the literature festival.
It was a brisk walk down and a brisk walk back but we had excellent weather for it! The talk, about Ms Killick's writing process, latest book, and more, was enjoyed by students and staff. We also learned her top tips for horror writing, such as having likeable main characters so that the reader is always rooting for them to survive! Several pupils were inspired to purchase copies of her books. As the line was quite long, we opted to leave the books with the Waterstones staff to have them signed. Ms Kelly, the librarian, collected them on Saturday and was able to thank Ms Killick for a wonderful event.
Her books are borrowed from our library year-round, though there is a decided uptick during the first term! An excellent writer, her books would be perfect for anyone wanting a spooky scary story - a step above ‘Goosebumps’ and below Stephen King.
