Balcarras Baccalaureate Success

Each year pupils in Year 11 at Balcarras have the opportunity to challenge themselves by signing up for the Balcarras Baccalaureate scheme. To take part pupils commit to trying to achieve a set of challenge grades in their core subjects (English, maths and science) and three of their option subjects. These grades are set by their teachers and are personalised to support pupils in doing their very best. In addition they take part in a school extra curricular activity, demonstrate excellent effort throughout the year and attend a series of Baccalaureate lunchtime meetings. Completing each part of the scheme is not easy and pupils that do so deserve to be recognised.
This week Mr Burke met with the pupils from 2025's year 11 that had achieved the award presenting their certificates and prizes along with a few of the school's legendary cookies. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the success of young people who want to challenge themselves and aim high. All of them have made a great start to their A Levels and are looking forward to the challenges of sixth form. Applications for the current Year 11 to join the scheme are currently open and we look forward to future celebrations of success.
