Cheltenham Half Marathon

Balcarras staff are fund raising for a local charity
On Sunday 34 staff, friends and family from Balcarras will be running the Cheltenham half marathon. This is being done in support of Sue Ryder a local care hospice. This is in memory of Kevin Clancy, a former teacher at the school who sadly passed away this year. Kevin taught physics and also ran the school’s careers department, he was diagnosed with cancer about two-and-a-half years before he died, he sadly passed away this year.
The runners range from sub 1.20 half marathon runners, through slow veterans of many miles, and some people who haven't put on their trainers for several years and some first timers. The staff are (in no particular speed order);, Sue Clemow, Jamie Weller, Simon Critchley, Jon Pearce, Graham Best, Mark Constance, Anna Clancy, Mark Harvey, Alex Boughton, Andrew Harding, Clare Hearing, Sian Renton, Ella Whiteland, Jack Goddard, Joe Willgoss, Ian Davidson, Andy Cadogan, Sam Bury-Brunsdon, Will Rothwell, Matt Howell, Jo Taylor, Ros Waters, Alison Bird, Rachel Parsons, Heather Harris, Hannah Went, Sam McLaughlin, Adrienne Niblett, David Sharkey, Dan Armstrong and James Lambert.

On Friday afternoon, the whole of Balcarras school is off timetable and the pupils take part in a sponsored walk event. This year the funds are also going to Sue Ryder.
