Year 9 camp and Activities week

Pupils took part in a range of days for this years activities week.

Last week, Balcarras School held its annual Activities Week, offering pupils a variety of exciting trips and experiences both locally and abroad — including visits to Berlin, France, the Brecon Beacons, and the Forest of Dean.

As part of the week, Year 9 students travelled to Viney Hill, near Lydney, where they stayed in a self-catering centre nestled in the heart of the Forest of Dean.

Throughout the week, pupils took part in a wide range of adventurous outdoor activities, including:

  • Mountain biking

  • Canoeing on Mallards Pike Lake

  • High ropes at "Go Ape" near Mallards Pike

  • Hiking

  • Archery

  • An introduction to bushcraft

  • Abseiling

  • Leap of Faith and Gladiator Challenge

Evenings were filled with team-building and leadership activities, and students also had the chance to cheer on England in their win over the Netherlands. The days ended around the campfire, where they relaxed with hot chocolate and biscuits.

It was a fantastic week filled with fun, personal growth, and unforgettable memories. A huge thank you to all the staff who made the experience possible!
