Amazing new DT facility officially opened
On Wednesday 28th September Balcarras officially opened its latest new facility—a brand new workshop for Design Technology.
Over the last five years the department has seen its numbers grow significantly in product design, food and textiles. For example this year there are 123 pupils studying Product Design alone!
To cope with such strong numbers at GCSE and A-level the school has invested in a brand new DT lab. We had a lovely opening ceremony and in a first for the school we chose two students to perform the official opening duties. Eleanor Quick (who last year won the prestigious Arkwright Scholarship) and Matthew Chestney had the honour of cutting the ribbon after a short speech from Mr Burke.
