Last week the Department for Education (DfE) published the 2026 GCSE League Tables.

The government have published two main measures of school performance: Attainment 8 and the % of pupils achieving 5+ in English and maths.

Attainment 8 measures the performance of pupils in English, maths, science and 4 other subjects. Pupils at Balcarras had an Attainment score 8 of 62.1. This was the highest for any comprehensive school in the region and placed us 60th amongst comprehensives nationally (top 2%).

On the second measure, pupils achieving a Grade 5+ in English and maths, Balcarras scored 80%. This placed us 2nd in the southwest and 33rd nationally (top 1%).

The school is ever so proud of the pupils who achieved these chart-topping results.
