Activities Week Adventure at Viney Hill

Year 9 go to camp as part of Activities week

Last week, Balcarras School held its annual Activities Week, giving pupils the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of exciting trips and experiences, both locally and abroad.

As part of the week, Year 9 students travelled to Viney Hill, near Lydney, where they stayed in a self-catering centre nestled in the heart of the beautiful Forest of Dean.

Throughout the week, pupils challenged themselves with a variety of adventurous outdoor activities, including mountain biking, canoeing on Mallards Pike Lake, high ropes at Go Ape, hiking, archery, bushcraft, abseiling, and the thrilling Leap of Faith and Gladiator Challenge.

The evenings were just as enjoyable, with team-building and leadership activities such as building their own bivouacs, taking part in a camp quiz, and competing in the Camp Olympics. Each day ended around the campfire, where everyone relaxed with hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows.

It was a fantastic week filled with fun, adventure, personal growth, and unforgettable memories. The experience encouraged pupils to step outside their comfort zones, develop new skills, and strengthen friendships.

A huge thank you goes to all the staff whose enthusiasm, dedication, and support made this memorable experience possible.
