House Dance

On Monday 22nd June we held the house dance competition. This year the theme was “Showtime,” and all four houses fully embraced this theme ensuring their acts delivered a fantastic performance full of energy and enthusiasm. Led by the performing arts captains and other senior prefects each house devised its own interpretation of the theme, and their narrators introduced each performer with real gusto. Acts were very diverse ranging from street dance to ballet, from hip hop to gymnastics etcetera. This year we were also treated to live singing and music as students performed. A real highlight was the year 10 numbers where most of the year group, irrespective of dancing ability, joined in the fun and took part in a group number for their house - exemplifying the team spirit of this competition. There were some incredible solos and group numbers, and after a tough deliberation judges awarded the following prices:

Winner for best Tap performance: Grace Caddy (8S1)

Winner for best Street performance: Naantali Ng (9G1)

Winner for best Ballet performance: Amalie Tissington (1001)

To crown an overall house winner each dance performance is judged individually, and then marks  are awarded to each house for the overall narration / interpretation of the theme, costumes, and organisation.

It was a very tough decision, but the overall house winner was Graveney!

Foley came a remarkably close second, and Selvey and Ottewell were joint third.

Huge congratulation to all students who took part!
