A Balcarras pupil in year 7 has recently won a photography competition for schools in Gloucestershire. Sophie Massey, 7S2 took the award winning photograph 'Lemon Drop!'  and entered the competition that was coordinated by Mrs Titmus.

The Gloucestershire Young Photographer of the Year 2026 GYP is hosted annually and is generously supported by the Cheltenham Round Table and Cheltenham Arts Council. 

This is what the Juudges had to say about Sophies picture; 

"Judging for the GYP2026 competition has now been completed. There have been many excellent images submitted and selecting the best of them has not been as easy task for the judges. We are pleased to say that the following entries from Balcarras Senior School Senior School have, not only been selected for inclusion in the Audio-Visual presentation but have also been given an AWARD".

Sophie will be collecting her award at the bacon theatre on Wednesday 29^th April from the mayor.
