At GLOW Maths Hub we believe all children can achieve in maths – no matter what their background, experience or individual needs. It’s something we’re passionate about.
Balcarras has been the Lead School for GLOW Maths Hub since its creation, in 2012.
What is GLOW Maths Hub?
We’re part of a national network of 40 Maths Hubs across England, funded by the Department for Education (DfE). We offer free, professional development to teachers of maths across Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.
How we work
So far this year, we’ve been working with over 850 teachers from 340schools through a series of projects, training programmes, and classroom-based research – to help, improve teaching strategies and boost confidence in mathematical learning.
RISE-ing standards in our region
As well as our support for primary, secondary and Post 16 institutions, we’re also proud to work alongside the Department for Education’s Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence (RISE) teams to support school improvement and strengthen maths teaching where it’s needed most. By combining expertise and resources, this partnership has helped schools implement evidence-based strategies that make a real difference in the classroom.
The collaboration with RISE has enabled us to reach more schools and provide tailored support. Together, we’re working towards a shared goal: improving outcomes for every child and creating a culture of excellence in maths education.
Looking ahead
Moving forward, GLOW Maths Hub will continue to champion collaboration, offering opportunities for teachers to learn from one another and bring research-informed methods into their classrooms.
Together, we’re building a culture where every child can succeed in maths.
