A notice regarding the upcoming Y7 French trip: Dear parents, Thank you very much to those of you who have paid the deposit for the Year 7 trip to France next summer. The 29 parents who have paid at this stage have secured a place on the trip for their child. However, if only 29 pupils are taking part, the travel company has informed that there will be an increase in the price. I have liaised with our travel company and they have managed to secure an extension with the hotel to keep rooms on hold until the 6th November. I know that some parents did not pay the deposit as they were worried their child would not be able to go along with their friends, as there are still places available this should no longer be a concern. The trip is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to practice their French in a very nice environment and I can only recommend it. If you would like you child to go on the trip, would you please pay the deposit before the 6th of November. We have 16 places still available which will now be allocated on a first come first served basis. A copy of the initial letter is on the VLE and the website. The DfE have published the Progress 8 figures for all schools nationally. Progress 8 measures the amount of progress students make between the end of primary school and the end of GCSE. We are delighted to announce that our figure was +0.83 which makes Balcarras the highest ranking comprehensive school in Gloucestershire and comfortably inside the top 80 comprehensive schools nationally. Students across the ability range made outstanding progress and we are proud of them all. What a great achievement this is by our young people, our families and our teachers. We should all take great pride in it.
