Following DFE guidance that the school must do everything possible to minimise contacts and mixing while delivering a broad and balanced curriculum Balcarras has made the decision to create year group bubbles. Pupils are currently only taught in year group classes and as such reducing contact between year groups during lessons is straight forward.There have been a number of changes to the school timetable to minimise contact between different year groups;
Arrival at school:
Years 10, 11 and 12 will have registration at usual time and arrive at 8.50.
Years 7 and 13 will start morning registration at 8.40.
Year 8 and 9 will arrive at school at 9.00 and register in lesson 1.
Year 7 will finish lesson 5 at 3.30.
Years 8, 9, 10 and 12 will finish lesson 5 at 3.35.
Years 11 and 13 will finish lesson 5 at 3.40.
Break time and Lunchtime:
In order to reduce contact at break time and lunchtime these will be staggered. This will allow each year group to have a time allocation at a food service point and allocated play and social spaces.
Years 8, 10, and 12 will have the normal break and lunchtime.
Years 7, 9, 11 and 13 will have earlier times for break and lunch.
