Balcarraslearning.com is the school's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and it uses the web based software called Moodle. The VLE can be accessed through any up-to-date web browser, however, it is recommended that you use either Firefox, Safari, Chrome or Internet Explorer. You can access the VLE from anywhere on any device which has access to the internet and an up-to-date web browser.
There are many devices which can offer this such as smart phones, tablets, laptops and PCs each of which have their own merit. When deciding what sort of device to purchase for you child to compliment their education, you will need to weigh up advantages and disadvantages of each, but all should offer the same experience on the VLE provided the browser is kept up-to-date.

Balcarras Policy on Photographs
At Balcarras School, we regularly use photographs of pupils on the school website and in various publications. Pupils love to see themselves in photographs and we are keen for all of our pupils, from Year 7 all the way up to Year 13, to be seen on the website, in the school magazine, in the local press and in various other educational journals.
*If for any reason you do not wish your son’s or daughter’s image to appear in school photographs, please contact the school.
