Pupils take their GCSE options for subjects in March of Year 9. The process begins with an assembly and a parents evening in Feburary.  Currently there are 5 core subjects English, Maths, Science, Religious Education and Physical Education that all pupils take. You then have 5 options to choose for your other GCSE options. See the option form PDF below.

You will then also have a parents evening before making your final options at the beginning of March. This is an exciting opportunity to choose subjects that you enjoy, there is the option to start new subjects such as Business studies or Philosophy. Try to gather as much information as you can before deciding what to do and try to maintain a balance of options. If you are considering sixth form you currently need 2 Bs and 3 Cs at GCSE including Maths and English Some subjects have a minimum grade requirement from GCSE while some subjects you do not have to have studied at GCSE. See our sixth form pages for more information on this, or talk to your teachers.

The other thing to consider is the EBACC award, which is an extra qualification, which you get automatically if you gain a C grade or above in the following subjects: English, Maths, Two Sciences, A Language and either History or Geography
