On Sunday 6^th May, Balcajazz played on the Free Stage in Montpellier Gardens. This was part of the Jazz Festival’s education programme. Jazz It Up! takes place on both the Saturday and Sunday mornings of the Jazz Festival each year and gives school jazz bands an opportunity to play on the Free Stage. It really is a wonderful experience to be able to play at such a prestigious, internationally acclaimed, event. 

This year was Balcajazz’s debut performance and I am absolutely delighted with the way they rose to the challenge. Although we were the first band of the day, we had a good sized, highly receptive audience and I was very proud of everyone in the band and the way they performed. I am already looking forward to, and planning for, next year’s event!
