Ecoschools

Balcarras is an Ecoschool

We achieved the Bronze award in Dec 2008 and then the Silver Award in June 2009.
The award is nationwide standard, over half of the schools in UK have signed up to do this award.  The award has 3 levels, bronze, silver and green flag.   For any more information see Mr Pearce or click here.

Our Aims
There is a committed Ecogroup that meets up every Monday lunchtime in 7A6.  Here is a picture of them.  The group has come up with an ‘EcoCode’ which outlines our 5 main goals.
Overall we aim to raise environmental awareness and reduce the environmental impact of the school on the environment by;
1. Making our energy use as efficient as possible
2. Not wasting water
3. Making the school environment diverse for wildlife
4. To encourage healthy exercise and reduce our  carbon footprint.
5. Making the whole school aware of how they can make a difference
