Carol Concert

The Carol Concert was one of the highlights of the year

The Carol Concert was just excellent.  What a great event it was, so well supported by parents, staff and pupils.  It is the busiest I have ever seen it in ten years at Balcarras.

The quality of the music was superb as was the variety on offer.  Children from right accross the school were involved and it was genuinely inspirational to watch them collaborate with one another so naturally.  Giving opportunities like this is just so important to our school.  Although it is not just the opportunity - most schools would offer that, its developing a culture where young people feel confident and secure so that they can showcase their talents in a creative and supportive environment.

There were too many highlights to mention, but I was partucuarly impressed by the boys choir (which did not exist before Mr Armstrong arrived at the school), the chamber choir (which reached new heights - literally), Balcajazz (who were fantastic), and the Orchestra (bigger than ever and superb) and I have to mention the staff choir (who were brilliant).

My thanks to everyone involved. To Mr Constance for orgainising the readings, to the PTFA for refreshments, To Mrs Saunders, Mrs Cozens and all the other staff involved in making the mince pies, to the site team for getting all of the equipment there, to Mr Armstrong for his expert trumpet playing and orgainisng the choir, and to Mrs Watts who is amazing.  Thanks also to Mrs Chong for her amazing work with the Chamber choir and masterminding what is a great event for the school.

I have to say that events such as these are one of the highlights of the year and make me proud to be associated with the school
